Nursing research is often conducted with the aim s of either generating new knowledge or validating currently existing knowledge based on theory. The process of conducting research therefore involves an organized scientific inquiry to answer hypotheses or specific research questions using either qualitative or quantitative scientific methods or both. The research   concludes by mentioning how the findings add to the existing body of knowledge, and provides recommendations for future research (Chien, 2019). In comparison, evidence based practice   entails the translation of   currently existing evidence into practice. Its aim is in utilizing the best and most current scientific evidence to make patient-centered decisions in the clinical setting. Therefore, most of the evidence utilized by providers in this case originates from research. However, its use goes beyond research to incorporate patient values and preferences and clinical expertise. Besides, even in instances where there exists no research evidence, evidence-based practice admits opinions and knowledge from experts and leaders which is transformed into practice.

A masters-prepared nurse can differentiate a research project that is part of an evidence-based intervention project from a nursing research that purposes to create knowledge by analyzing their specific components. For instance, the latter will be peer-reviewed, and have a hypothesis that a researcher purposes to test using scientific methods. The methods must describe the processes, participants, and instruments used, it must include the findings, conclusion, recommendations for further research, and implications for practice (Chien, 2019).  In contrast, an evidence based project will primarily rely on extensive reviews and evaluation of currently existing evidence that perfectly address all elements of EBP identified in a PICOT (population, intervention, comparison, outcome, time) question meaningfully (Buccheri & Sharifi, 2017). The article will include a description of processes and strategies on how synthesized literature was used to translate research into practice and the outcomes thereafter.
